Mrs. DeSeelhorst Lives Here 71 Years; Died Sun.

Mrs. Lydia DeSeelhorst who resided in Grundy county during the past seventy-one years, died at her home in Grundy Center last Sunday from infirmities of old age. She would have been 87 years old next August. There is not a person now living in Grundy Center who was here when she came here with her family from her native state of Pennsylvania in October, 1865. Her maiden name was Lydia Troutman.

The Troutman family acquired a homestead on a farm in Palermo township, where the daughter Lydia lived until she was married to Osman Little. After her marriage she and her husband began housekeeping on a farm in Washington township. The husband died about forty years ago. Three years later she was married a second time to Fred DeSeelhorst. Mr. and Mrs. DeSeelhorst became residents of Grundy Center after their marriage. Mr. DeSeelhorst died in 1915. Since that time Mrs. DeSeelhorst lived alone in her home in Grundy Center until within the past two months when her health began to fail.

There were no children from either of Mrs. DeSeelhorst's marriages. One brother, Will Troutman, who lives in Colorado, survives.

Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon. The services were in charge of Rev. J. B. Bird, pastor of the Grundy Methodist church. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.
