Mrs. Mary Clark, Oldest Resident, Died Sunday

Mrs. Mary Clark, who had resided in Grundy county continuously for seventy-six years and who up to the time of her death was the oldest woman in the county, died at her home in Grundy Center Sunday afternoon. She was in her 93rd year.

Though she had reached an age permitted to a very few, Mrs. Clark enjoyed continuous good health and assisted daily in household work up to seven weeks ago when she met with an accident that resulted in a broken hip. From that time on she declined daily until the end came peacefully Sunday afternoon.

Was Native of Pennsylvania
There is no one now living in Grundy Center who was here when at 16 years of age she arrived with her parents in Grundy Center. That was on October 4, 1865. They came here direct from Pennsylvania. There is no one now living in the county who resided here at that time.

The family when they came to Grundy county acquired a homestead on a farm in Palermo township. Mrs. Clark made her home on the farm continuously until the family moved to Grundy Center forty years ago.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. J. B. Bird, pastor of the Grundy Methodist church, were held at the home Tuesday afternoon. Burial was by the side of the husband in the Grundy Center cemetery. Mr. Clark died fifteen years ago.

Surviving are four children, Dr. Lucius Clark, Winter Park, Florida; Mrs. Minnie Frost, John Clark and Mrs. Ada Gleason, all of Grundy Center.

Bronson, Spencer; Miss Marlys Reisinger and Frank Lewis, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Devendorf, Des Moines; George and Delbert Clark, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Clark, Minneapolis; Albert Frost and James Tracy, Ft.
