Mrs. Herbert Cole Dies at Hospital
Mrs. Herbert Cole, who for many years resided on a farm in Grundy county, died at Sartori hospital in Cedar Falls early Sunday morning, following a long illness. She was 80 years old.
Funeral services were held at the Coffman funeral home in Grundy Center Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the family lot in the Grundy Center cemetery.
Mrs. Cole's maiden name was Lida Hibarger. She was born in Ogle county, Ill., June 13, 1865. In 1883 the family moved to Grundy county and two years later to Cedar Rapids where she was married to Herbert Cole. For a time after their marriage they lived in South Dakota and then in Hancock county for a short time before they returned to Grundy county where they resided on a farm until 1896 when they moved to a farm five miles north of Marshalltown. In the fall of 1919 they moved to Marshalltown where they lived until about two years ago when they moved to Cedar Falls. Mr. Cole died on October 20th of last year.
Mrs. Cole had been bedfast since December 1942 when she suffered a stroke. She was in the hospital at Cedar Falls for more than a year.
Surviving are three sons: Lyle of Bakersfield, Calif.; Carl of Saskatchewan, Canada; and Eldon of Cedar Falls. There are 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Another son, Dale, died in May, 1924.
