Ed Hasbrouck Is Dead; Lived Here 79 Years

Ed Hasbrouck died Tuesday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Will Wald, in Alexandria, Minn. He was 91 years old. Advanced age was the cause of his death.

He is the last of a large family of Hasbrouck who came to Grundy county during the Civil War. Ed was 12 years old when the family came to Grundy county. They drove here with a team and made their home on one of the Boies farms southwest of Grundy Center, known at that time as the cheese farm. There was only one small store in Grundy Center when the Hasbrouck family came here and only two or three houses. The family drove through Grundy Center without noticing that there was at town here.

There were six sons and one daughter in the first Hasbrouck family to come to Grundy Center. Ed is the last of the family to go. Brothers who preceded him were Dan, Free, Lee, Howard and George. The daughter is also dead.

He was twice married. Both wives are dead. There were eight children in the Ed Hasbrouck family and all of them are living. They are Bert, Earl and Harry of Goldfield; Art and Jim, Grundy Center; Mrs. Will Wald, Alexandria, Minn., and Mrs. George Hodge and Mrs. Charles Hodge, who reside in Wisconsin.

Mr. Hasbrouck's body will be brought to Grundy Center today and it will be at the Coffman funeral home. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Saturday afternoon.
