Death of Mrs. Horace Travis

An unusually sad death occurred Friday morning east of Grundy Center, Mrs. Horace Travis passing away after a brief illness from scarlet fever. She contracted the disease a few days before having become sick soon after she had taken her daughter to Iowa City for a minor operation. Mrs. Travis was buried Friday afternoon at Morrison, Rev. Dilman Smith conducting the services. It was necessary for the stricken family to remain behind in the quarantined house while the body of the wife and mother was taken away for burial.

Elizabeth Dickinson was born at White House, Ohio, on Nov. 21, 1893 and passed away at her home near Grundy Center, Iowa on April 12, 1918, at the age of 24 years, 4 months and 21 days.

She was united in marriage July 10, 1911 to Horace Travis of Grundy Center. To this union three children were born, Earl age 5, Alice age 3, and Lee age 7 months. The children and the father survive to mourn the loss of the wife and mother in this home. One brother, William of Morrison, and two sisters, Mrs. Mark Johns living near Grundy Center and Mrs. Groves of White House, Ohio, also survive.
