Funeral Services Saturday for Edward French

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Edward French, who died at his home in Grundy Center late Wednesday afternoon after a long illness. The services were conducted by Rev. Pace, pastor of the Grundy Center Baptist church. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mr. French was born in Sullivan, Ill., March 26, 1872. He grew up there and married Flora Collier, who died about 50 years ago. To this union were born four children, three of them preceding him in death, and one, Ernie French, living in Grundy Center.

Mr. French came to Grundy Center 37 years ago and made his home here ever since. He was employed as a day laborer up to the beginning of his last illness.

On August 10, 1908, he married Rosa Allgood, and to this union one child was born, Mrs. Mandus Barfels of Grundy Center.

He leaves besides his wife and two children, four sisters: Mrs. Dora Nelson, Smithfield, Mo.; Mrs. Ida Winchester, Allenville, Ill.; Mrs. Nellie Ozee, Mattoon, Ill.; Mrs. Eva Adams, Farina, Ill.; four grandsons and one step-granddaughter. His parents, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
