Samuel Meyers Passed Away

Samuel A. Meyers was born in Somerset county, Pa., Sept. 2, 1836. He was married to Susanna Hochstettler Dec. 19, 1858, and moved to Liscomb, Marshall county, in 1876. In 1879 he moved near Grundy Center, Grundy County, and on to his farm near Whitten in 1886, where he died Nov. 21, 1901, aged 63 years, 2 months and 18 days. He became a member of the Brethren church in 1861, was elected deacon in 1864, and was faithful to his call until his departure.

To Mr. and Mrs. Meyers were born eleven children, all of whom survive him. The wife, eleven children and nineteen grandchildren mourn the loss of a dear husband, father and grandfather. His oldest daughter, Lydia Lewis, lives near Liscomb; the four oldest sons, Harvey, Tobias, Joseph and Cyrus, live near Grundy Center; two daughters, Ida Freed and Lizzie Price, live near Whitten; Mary Vinton in Goldfield, Iowa; the three youngest children, Elias, Laurence and Amanda, remain at home. Two brothers, M. A. and A. A. Meyers living in Dakota, and one sister in Pennsylvania are left to mourn his loss; also two half-brothers, Elias and Dan Bueghly, who were present at the funeral. Mrs. Meyers' only brother, Emanual Hochstettler was by his beside during his last days.

The deceased will be missed by the community in which he lived. He was a good neighbor and always ready with a kind word for everyone.
