Leo Reisz Dies At Vets Hospital
Leo C. Reisz died last Thursday in veterans hospital, Des Moines where he had been a patient for about two months. He was 75 years old.
The body was brought to the Ferree Funeral Home, where funeral arrangements were made. There was a rosary service at the funeral home Friday evening. There was a service at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Grundy Center at 9:30 Saturday forenoon. The service was conducted by the resident pastor, Rev. Fr. P. C. Bodensteiner. Burial was in the catholic portion of the Grundy Center cemetery.
Mr. Reisz was born in Great Falls, Montana, January 14, 1891. He was married to Marie Myerchin in Great Falls, Montana, October 3, 1917. He and his wife moved to Grundy Center in 1922 and resided here ever since.
Mr. Reisz opened a 5 and 10 cent store in Grundy Center in the building now occupied by the Feller store. He owned and operated that store upwards of 10 years.
When a state liquor store was established in Grundy Center in 1934 he became the store's first manager. After retiring from the liquor store he was employed as bookkeeper at the Hemp Mill and at the Farmers Elevator in Grundy Center. His health began to fail about five years ago and he retired from active employment.
He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion Post in Grundy Center.
He was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy and two sisters.
Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Valeria) Caldwell of Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. Richard (Carmelita) Moody of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Joseph (Yvonne) Oettinger of Milwaukee; one brother, Harry Reisz of San Leondro, Calif., and 16 grandchildren.
