Gone To Rest

William Quinn, aged 67 years, one month and five days, died at his home in Grundy Center, Friday, November 24 at 4:50 a.m.

Father Quinn was born in Pomeroy, Tyrone county, Ireland, October 15, 1826, and emigrated to this country with his parents in 1847. When his father and mother landed in New York they were both stricken with ship-fever from which they never recovered, and their son was left to find a home for himself in this country. He worked on a farm for two years in Washington county, N.Y., and in 1850, he moved to Rutland county, Vermont, where he was married and kept hotel for a few years. In 1859 he emigrated to Tempelleau county, Wisconsin, where he bought a farm and operated it until 1870. In the fall of that year he moved to Carroll county, Ill., where he resided for five years, and in the spring of 1875 he moved to Grundy Center, where he purchased property and lived up to the time of his death.

For the past three years he had been sorely afflicted with kidney trouble, and a severe attack of lagrippe hastened his death. He was sick about ten days when God called him home. Father Quinn was a worthy and loving husband, a kind and indulgent father, and withal a devoted christian. He leaves a wife, four sons: Thomas, William, John and Mack Quinn, and one daughter, Mrs. John Duffy, and an aged brother to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held in the catholic church November 25, 1893, at 10:30 a.m., Father Sheehy officiating.
