Mrs. Jake Schneider Died At St. Paul; Was 95 Yrs. Old

Mrs. Jake Schneider, one of the early residents of Grundy county who came to Iowa in a covered wagon, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. D. Matthews, in St. Paul at 7:30 Friday evening. She had been sick about two weeks. Had she lived another six months, Mrs. Schneider would have been 96 years old. Her husband died 15 years ago. Since that time she made her home with her daughter in St. Paul.

Mrs. Schneider was born Margaret Weiler, Feb. 18, 1843, at St. Agatha, Ontario, Canada. She married Jacob F. Schneider Oct. 3, 1861, at St. Agatha. The young couple moved to Illinois for a few years, but emigrated to Hardin county in 1873 and moved to Grundy Center in 1876. They lived in and around Grundy Center until the death of Mr. Schneider.

Mrs. Schneider was the mother of twelve children. Eight of them are living. The children who survive are J. E. Schneider, Mrs. Frank Ward, Mrs. H. D. Matthews and Miss Florence Schneider, all of whom live in the Twin Cities, Mrs. James Mee, Centerville, S.D., and Mrs. M. G. Heiberger and Mrs. Anna Verley, Grundy Center.

The remains were sent to Grundy Center. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Leo Entringer were held in the Catholic church in Grundy Center Monday forenoon. Burial was by the side of the husband in the Grundy Center cemetery.
