Death Removes Seven Within A Week's Time

Many Homes In This Vicinity Have Been Saddened During the Past Few Days

Seven Deaths In Less Than Week

All of these Deaths Were Due to the Prevailing Epidemic of Influenza and Pneumonia

Five homes in which there were seven deaths have been saddened during the past week in this city and vicinity by the Death Angel. In one home--that of the Bottema family living northeast of here--there has been three deaths. All were due to pneumonia following the influenza.

Annie Temple, daughter of John and Tena Temple, was born at Ivester, May 21, 1901, and died at Grundy Center, Iowa, Nov. 25th, 1918 at the age of 17 years, 6 months and 4 days.

Annie had come home for an over Sunday visit, and found the entire family sick with the influenza. She entered the home, against the protest of her parents, intending to help in the care of the sick, and she also contracted the malady. It was thought that she had improved, and was apparently getting along nicely, but she suddenly and unexpectedly succumbed to the effect of the disease on Monday.

Annie was a good girl and highly esteemed by all who knew her. She expressed great confidence, and had the assurance of faith, in the brief time of her sudden relapse, which soon terminated in her apparent untimely death.

It is exceedingly sad, and greatly distressing, that such a young life should be so suddenly cut off. An unwavering faith is all that can sustain, in these days, when so many are ill, and young and old are being called hence.

The bereaved and afflicted family have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.

A brief funeral service was conducted at the home, by Rev. L. P. Krome, Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 27, at 3 o'clock.

The family are very grateful for the many manifestations of sympathy and kindness, on the part of neighbors and friends.
