Rolla Long, Whitten Farmer, Buried Thurs. In Benson Cemetery

Services for Rolla Long, 69, rural Whitten, who died in Evangelical Hospital in Marshalltown, Monday, Feb. 13, were held Thursday afternoon at the Whitten Methodist Church.

Burial was in Benson Cemetery south of Whitten. The Rev. Robert Winters officiated. Biersborn Funeral Home, Union, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Long was born August 17, 1897, a son of Egra and Katherine Cromie Long at a farm southeast of Whitten. He spent his entire life, except for two years in Minnesota and Dakota, in the Whitten community.

He lived on a farm northeast of Whitten until death. He was married Feb. 18, 1953 at Nashua to Lucille Callaway.

Survivors are his widow, five sisters, Mrs. Burr, Mrs. Flossie Paul and Mrs. Melvin Mitchell, all of Marshalltown, Mrs. Gene Bachman of Albion and Mrs. Emery Baker of Conrad.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence, and a sister, Marie Gould.
