Rites Friday For Mrs. F. O. Beckman

Mrs. Fritz O. Beckman, 74, of Grundy Center, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 22, at the Sartori Memorial hospital in Cedar Falls. She had been confined to the hospital several weeks for treatment of a heart condition.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the First United Presbyterian church with the Rev. John L. Lewis officiating. Entombment will be in the Beckman Mausoleum in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Lana Margurite Pabst was born in Lincoln township, Grundy County, Iowa on April 15, 1897, the daughter of John R. and Lana Schaa Pabst. Her early life was spent there. Later her father purchased the O. E. Beckman farm in Palermo township.

She attended Ellsworth college and in the spring of 1921 she became employed by the Shipley Company, where she managed the ready-to-wear department for seven years and later worked in the R. L. Kurtz store for two years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian church since 1930 and was active in all of the women's organizations. On August 7, 1930 she was married to Fritz O. Beckman, and they have made their home in Grundy Center since that time.

Survivors are her widower, a son Fritz Jr. of Temple City, Calif., one daughter, Mrs. Dale (Kathryn) Haworth of Edina, Minn., six grandchildren, Steve, Nancy and Marcy Haworth, and Michael, Victoria and Jeffrey Beckman.

Other survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Ed (Ruth) Casey of West Palm Beach, Fla., Mrs. H. P. (Minnie) Petersen, Grundy Center; Mrs. George (Marie) Stevens, Story City, Mrs. Don (Emma) Stubbs, Bayard; Mrs. B. W. (Viola) Wiarda, Iowa Falls, and one brother, John Pabst of Pleasanton, Calif.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Harry Pabst.

A memorial has been established in the First Presbyterian church in her memory.

The Ferree-Oltmann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
