Rites Thursday for Dina Younker
Services were held Thursday afternoon at the Westfriesland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kenneth Remer officiating for Dina Younker, daughter of John and Anna Toomsen Janssen who was born in Grundy County, Iowa on Oct. 26, 1887. She and William F. Younker were united in marriage on Feb. 26, 1914.
They moved to a farm 2 miles east of Ackley where she lived until moving to Ackley in Sept. of 1963. Mr. and Mrs. Younker made profession of their faith and united with the Westfriesland Presbyterian church on Oct. 10, 1915. She attended services faithfully until she suffered a stroke in July of 1964 which left her partially paralyzed. She was in the Hampton Nursing Home for 3 years and came to the Presbyterian Home infirmary in Ackley in August of 1967. On Sunday morning Mrs. Younker was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo where she passed away on Monday morning, Nov. 9, reaching the age of 83 years and 14 days.
Surviving are her two sons and their wives, John and Marian Younker of New York City, and Elmer and Anna Marie Younker of Ackley; also two grandsons, William Younker who is in the Air Force in Texas, and Robert Younker of Ackley; one brother, Henry J. Janssen and two sisters, (Fannie) Mrs. Herman Schultz and (Hattie) Mrs. Reuben Weber, all of Ackley.
Mrs. Younker was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1949, a son Henry in 1962, her parents, and two sisters.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
