Eldon Finger Dies From Liver Disease

Funeral services for Eldon Finger were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 1982, in the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Wellsburg, IA, with Pastor Ronald Fisher officiating. Organist was Marilyn Ubben and Greg Conrad was the soloist with Michelle Fisher the pianist. Casketbearers were: David Warren, Bob Kuhns, Greg Peterson, Mitch Becker, Jeff Porter, and Steve Bakker. Flower ladies were Janet Groeneveld and Lorraine Goldhorn. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Eldon Finger was born the son of Elwin and Irene Janssen Finger on February 3, 1954, in Hampton, Iowa. They lived in rural Grundy County south of Aplington, IA. Eldon graduated from the Aplington High School in 1972. After receiving his B.A. in Special Education from the University of Northern Iowa, he taught Special Ed in an elementary school in Ames. For three summers he was employed as a singer and dancer at Adventureland in Des Moines. In 1978, he moved to Minneapolis, MN, and was employed as a Psychologist Assistant. He also attended the University of Minnesota for one year working towards his Master Degree.

Since the Fall of 1979, Butch had suffered from a liver disease. He died early Monday morning, August 23, 1982, in the Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburg, PA., where he had been a patient for the past two and a half weeks. Butch reached the age of 28 years, 6 months, and 20 days.

He was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, rural Wellsburg.

Eldon is survived by his parents, Elwin and Irene Finger, Rt. 1, Aplington; 3 sisters, Judy, Mrs. David Kuper, and Karla Kramer both of Ackley, and Lori Finger of Cedar Falls; one brother, Dale Finger of Aplington; six nieces and nephews; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lenora Janssen of Ackley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Trent Finger who died Oct. 30, 1979.

Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Chapel in Aplington was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
