Tom Kruse, 89, of Parkersburg, Killed When Struck by Car
Tom Kruse of Parkersburg, 89 year old retired farmer, was killed Monday night when he was struck by an automobile as he walked along Highways 20 and 14 at the west edge of Parkersburg. Police said the car was driven by William Mulder, 71, of Parkersburg, who had backed his car out of his driveway into the street and had just started ahead when he struck the aged man.
Police said Mr. Kruse was wearing dark clothing and quoted the driver as saying he did not see the man. No charges were filed.
Funeral services will be held Friday, at 1 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Parkersburg with burial at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed cemetery at Wellsburg.
Kruse is survived by one daughter, Annie, with whom he made his home, and four sons, Peter, Parkersburg; Harvey, Allison; Corneil, Shell Rock; and Albert of Wellsburg.
