Funeral Services Held Friday for Henry Schipper

Services were held Friday, Feb. 8 for Henry Schipper, who died at his home in Wellsburg. The services were at the Second Christian Reformed church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. H. Rubingh. Music was by Mrs. Clarence Beecroft with Mrs. Ray Toomsen as pianist. Flower attendants were Mrs. John Doyen and Miss Bertha Doyen. Interment was in the Wellsburg Reformed church cemetery. Casketbearers were Albert J. Geerdes, Frank Schulte, W. H. Meyer, Lester Huisman, George Sietsema, Geo. Harms.

Henderk Schipper was born in the year 1869 on October 2 in Oudewijh Gemente Beerta in the Province of Groningen of the Netherlands. He was the son of Harm Schipper and Effie Renken VanDyk. On March 20, 1897 he was joined in marriage with Henkertje Meffert in Bollingwolde, Netherland. To this union were born eight children, three of whom have preceded their father in death in very early childhood while the family still resided in the Netherlands. In the year 1910 Mr. Schipper and his family emigrated to America, arriving in Parkersburg where they resided for a short time. They lived in Kesley and Aplington for a brief period. For the last 30 years the family have made their home in Wellsburg.

Mr. Schipper had reached the age of 77 years, 4 months and 3 days at the time of his death. His health had been failing for a number of years and he had lost his eyesight.

Surviving relatives are his wife, Harm Schipper of Hampton, Mrs. Jermian VenDerboon of the Netherlands, Mrs. Merlen Anewalt of Clarksville, Mrs. Jake Trunter of Austin, Minn., Mrs. Jake Hemmen of Dumont. There are 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; also four sisters.

Relatives in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Hanawalt and daughters of Clarksville, Iowa, Harm Schipper and children of Hampton, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hemmen and daughters of Dumont, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Tuinder and children, Austin, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hulsabus and daughter Parkersburg, Mrs. George Coopiedrier of Austinville, Mrs. George Buringa of Austin, Minnesota, Mrs. Henry Ridder, Parkersburg, Mrs. Harm Hovenga, Austinville, Mrs. Divena DeVries and Mrs. Jacob Neevenhoven both of Austinville, Miss Effie Huisubus and Mrs. V. Seemage of Parkersburg, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hammond of Hampton, Herbie Hunt of Fredricksburg and Mr. and Mrs. Harm Hemmen and son of Kesley, Iowa.
