Edwin Bakker Services Held

Edwin Bakker, 70, of Steamboat Rock, died Sunday, August 16, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of cancer.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 19, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church, Wellsburg. Rev. Thomas Vos officiated.

Burial was at the church cemetery with full military rites.

Edwin was born January 3, 1922, in Grundy county the son of John M. and Martha Eekhoff Bakker.

On November 10, 1970, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Terpstra in Oskaloosa. He farmed for a living, served in the Army, and was a Deacon and Elder of the First Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Manly and Herman; one sister, Genevieve Powell; and one brother and one sister in infancy.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Steamboat Rock; two daughters, Karen and Eileen Bakker of Steamboat Rock; and two brothers, Peter of Wellsburg and Lee of Hudsonville, MI.

A memorial fund has been established.

Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
