Wilda Jane "Billie" Janssen, 65 of Wellsburg, Iowa, passed away on August 28, 2015 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Visitation will be held at the Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the First Christian Reformed Church in rural Wellsburg. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Global Compassion Network, care of the family.

Billie was born in Eldora, Iowa on January 28, 1950 to her parents William and Bernice Koch nee Primus. She graduated from Wellsburg High School in the Class of 1968. She then attended the University of Northern Iowa. Billie was united in marriage to Bill Janssen on March 8, 1969 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. Together they started farming west of Wellsburg and they welcomed four sons into their family.

Billie was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a long-time member of the First Christian Reformed Church in rural Wellsburg. There she served the church as a choir member, a Sunday School Teacher and on many committees within the church. Billie loved quilting and belonged to the quilting group Patches & Pieces. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeye's. She enjoyed gardening, landscaping and traveling. Every year she looked forward to her short family trips. Billie's true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Billie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bill Janssen, of Wellsburg; her sons, Bill Janssen, Jr. of Johnston, Iowa, Brian (Angela) Janssen of Solon, Iowa and Brett (JoEllen) Janssen of Wellsburg, Iowa; her grandchildren, Bo, Jace, Jillian, Brinley and Bauer Janssen; her sisters Kayleen (Don) Rouse, Karen (Harlyn) Riekena, Linda (Tim) Noland and Bern (Rollin) Primus; her brothers Darrell Koch and Dallas (Glenda) Koch; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Blake; her brother Darwin Koch and sister-in-law Nedra Koch.
