Rites Held For Mrs. Brindle

Amber G. Brindle, 78, of Marshalltown, passed away from complications of cancer at Villa del Sol in Marshalltown on Saturday, May 11.

Services were held Monday, May 13, at 1:30 p.m., at the First Methodist Church in Marshalltown, with the Rev. James A. Kledis officiating.

Casket bearers were David Brindle, Wayne Bracy, Mark Waters, Michael Waters, Wallace Brindle, and Marvin Brindle.

Interment was in the Conrad Cemetery in Conrad.

Amber, the daughter of Harry A. and Ethel Waters, was born on August 17, 1912, in Farnhamville. She attended country school near Lohrville and Farnhamville, graduating in 1929 from Lohrville High School.

On September 23, 1934, she was united in marriage to Luther M. Brindle in Marshalltown.

Mrs. Brindle was a member of St. Elmo Chapter OES #398 in Conrad. She also belonged to The Marshalltown Woman's Club, DAR, and Thea Chi, Republican Women, and the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Luther of Marshalltown; three daughters, Janet Minter of Stockton, CA, Laura Byrne of Westfield, NJ, and Susan Johnson of Indianola; one son, John T. of Norwalk; two sisters, Louise Hix of Melbourne, and Joyce Swearinger of Marshalltown; three brothers Lule Waters of Marshalltown, Dr. Harry Waters of Emporia, KS, and C.J. (Jeff) Waters of Marshalltown; 15 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

The Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of arrangements.
