Services Last Friday for S. R. Dale, 76

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon, Feb. 27, at the Dike United Methodist Church for Samuel R. Dale. Mr. Dale passed away at his Dike home on Wednesday morning.

Rev. Robert Hoover, Jr. officiated at the 1:30 services. Burial was in the Reinbeck cemetery. The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Samuel R. Dale was born in Clay County, Berry, Missouri on April 21, the son of Isaac and Rosie Jan Hedrick Dale. He married Mary Ann Carroll and farmed in the Dike and Reinbeck area for a number of years. She passed away on March 22, 1934. Mr. Dale moved to Detroit in 1936 and on Oct. 13, 1936 was married to Cora Johnson. While in Detroit he was employed at the Chrysler Corp. The Dales moved from Detroit to Dike in 1941, when Mr. Dale retired.

Survivors include his widow, Cora; eight children, Willard C. Dale of Evansdale, Russell Dale of Warren, Michigan, Mrs. John (Betty) Erquist of Des Moines, Mrs. George (Rose) Barkatt of Warren, Mich., Roger J. and Robert B. Dale, both also of Warren, Michigan; Shirley Merting also of Warren, Michigan and Mrs. Steven (Joan) Jensen of Cedar Falls; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, seven brothers, one sister, one daughter and two grandchildren.
