Robert Kopsa Rites Are Held
Robert Kopsa, 93, of Conrad, passed away Tuesday, December 12, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Alice Church of God, rural Conrad, with Rev. James Snare officiating.
The organist was Dorothy Callaway and the soloist was LaDonna Sharp.
Casket bearers were John Kopsa, Robert Kopsa, Donald Kopsa, Leo Kopsa, Harold Skramovsky and Karl Skramovsky.
Mary Ralston and Margaret Kline were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
Robert Kopsa, the son of Frank and Amelia Pole Kopsa, was born September 9, 1896, in Rokitnitz, Bohemia. He received two years of education in Bohemia prior to his coming to the United States at the age of 12.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Banner in Grundy Center on February 15, 1919. He farmed in the Grundy county area most of his life, and moved to his present address in Conrad in 1965.
He was a member of the Alice Church of God, and the Grundy County Farm Bureau.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, three sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by one son, Wayne R. Kopsa, Conrad; one daughter, Ruth E. Tidmore, Centre, AL; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and one sister, Tressa Skramovsky, of Marshalltown.
The Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
