Rites Held For Zelma Butler

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 28, from the Ivester Church of the Brethren for Mrs. Zelma Butler, 77, of McPherson, Kan., who died Saturday, June 24, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita, Kas.

Rev. Phil and Rev. Louise Rieman officiated at the services with Mrs. John Dinnes, Mrs. Howard Sheller and Forest Kruschwitz as vocalist. Mrs. Myrna Cakerice was organist. Serving as flower ladies were Mrs. Gary Button, Mrs. Charles Sheller and Mrs. Uarda Kruse.

Casket bearers were Lloyd Draper, Raymond Kirkdorffer, Lyle Neher, Paul Neher, Jay Miller and Doyle Reeder with interment in the Sheller Cemetery. Andrle and Creps Funeral Home of Eldora handled arrangements.

Mrs. Butler was born Zelma Pierce on November 16, 1911, at Buckeye and was a resident of McPherson, Kan., since 1987, moving from Eldora. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ivester Church of the Brethren.

Her husband, D. L., died in 1974. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Donald of Grundy Center and Edward R. of McPherson; a daughter, M. Eileen Butler of Hillsboro, Kan.; a brother, John Cakerice of Eldora; two sisters, Ruth Raska of Radcliffe and Evelyn Schmidt of Hillsboro; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to The Cedars, Hillsboro United Methodist Church or the Ivester Church of the Brethren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, at the Cedars Retirement Center in McPherson, Kan.
