Wednesday Rites For Alice Pence
Alice Pence, 66, of Conrad, passed away Sunday, April 23, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, Marshalltown.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 26, at the Ivester Church, rural Grundy Center, with Pastors Phil and Louise Rieman officiating.
Burial will be in the Conrad Cemetery. The Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., will be assisting with the committal services.
Organist will be Lois Kruse, and vocalists will be Velva Butler, Marlene Neher, and Karen Cakerice.
Casket bearers will be Jack Davison, Don Haskin, Robert Emmert, Norman Hickman, Jerry and Levi Pence.
Ruth Miller and Wanda Button will be in charge of the floral arrangements.
Alice Pence was born March 17, 1923, in Eldora, the daughter of Chester and Nora Haskin Emmert. She graduated from the Eldora High School in 1940.
On February 14, 1943, Alice was united in marriage to Howard W. Pence in Eldora. They have been residents of Conrad for the past 23 years.
She was a member of the Ivester Church, Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., and the Conrad and Benson Cemetery Societies.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one son, James.
She is survived by her husband, Howard; three daughters, Jane Kruse, Williamsburg, CO, Bonnie, Mrs. Stephen Mugge, Conrad, and Susan, Mrs. Bob Schliesman, Corona, CA; one sister, Lela, Mrs. A. L. (Bob) Davison, Eldora; three brothers, Wesley Emmert, Broken Arrow, OK, Kenneth Emmert, Modesto, CA, and Clarence Emmert, San Jose, CA; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
