Died.

BARNES--At the residence of B. F. Robinson, in Grundy Center, on Friday evening, Jun. 8, 1883, of paralysis of the bowels, Mr. Stephen S. Barnes, of Conrad Grove, Iowa, aged 68 years.

The deceased was born July 29, 1815, in Camden, Oneida county, New York. Was married June 12, 1844, to Miss Angelina North. Moved from New York to Illinois in 1851. He came to Grundy county, Iowa, in August, 1868, and died on the evening of June 8th, 1883. His sickness was very short. On Tuesday evening he retired seemingly as well as ever, and on Friday evening he passed away. He was a man honored in the county and known for his integrity and moral worth. He was converted in early life, and while he never united with any church, he cherished the laws of the church and gave it his support in various ways.

The deceased was the next oldest of a family of nine children, of which number one brother and four sisters are still living. He leaves besides these a wife and three children and eight grandchildren to mourn their great loss.

Mr. Barnes was at the time of his death a member of the Board of Supervisors, a faithful county officer, and will be very much missed. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
