Obituary

Services for Mrs. Arend Arends were held in the West Friesland Presbyterian church, east of Ackley.

Mrs. Reka Sinning Arends was born in Hardin county near Ackley on April 19, 1885. As an infant she was baptized in the Christian faith at East Friesland Presbyterian church, where she later became a communicant member. On December 8, 1915, she was united in marriage to Arend K. Arends. At this time, they both became members of the Westfriesland Presbyterian church where they retained their membership the rest of their lives. They were always active in the life of the church and Mrs. Arends particularly enjoyed the regular meetings of the Ladies' Aid Society.

Mr. and Mrs. Arends lived in the Ackley area most of their lives, excepting for a few years living north of Iowa Falls. In 1963, Mrs. Arends moved to the Presbyterian Home in Ackley and in October of 1965 to the Maple Manor Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arend, in 1963; her parents, one sister and two brothers. Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Hattie) Meyer of Britt; Mrs. Harry (Minnie) England of Alden, and Mrs. Arthur (Fannie) Nelson of Alden.
