Mrs. John Barfels Dies In Hospital

Mrs. John Barfels died March 23 at the Grundy hospital where she had been a patient for four weeks. She was 76 years old.

Services were held Saturday afternoon at the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. Burial was in the Reinbeck cemetery. Rev. C. W. Collins was the officiating pastor.

Mrs. Barfels was born in Tama county, April 30, 1889. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Anderson. On January 19, 1907, Sylvia Anderson and John Barfels were married. They resided on a farm in Black Hawk township, Grundy county, since 1918. Mr. Barfels died in September 1960. She continued to live on the farm until January 19 of this year when she went to the Parkview Manor in Reinbeck. She entered the hospital in Grundy Center, February 23rd.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Royal Schelling, Reinbeck, a son, Floyd, Reinbeck, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, three brothers and three grandchildren.
