Services Monday For Raymond Spieker Jr.

Funeral services were held at Bethany Presbyterian church in Grundy Center Monday afternoon for Ray Spieker, 23 years old, who died in the University hospital at Iowa City Friday. The Engelkes Funeral Home made funeral arrangements. The service was conducted by Rev. A. J. Straatmeyer. Burial was in Grundy Center cemetery.

He had been a resident at the Edna Nursing Home in Allison. He was transferred to the University hospital three days after he was severely burned in a bathtub at the nursing home.

He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Spieker Sr. of Grundy Center. Surviving are the parents, three sisters, Shirley, Sharon and Bonnie, all at home; four brothers, Allen, Gary, Randall and Melvin, all at home, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harm VanHorn of Parkersburg.

A nursing home spokesman said Spieker scaled his legs and one arm in hot water. An Allison doctor said Spieker had turned on the hot water and apparently drank some of it, suffering possible internal burns.
