Mrs. John Price Dies Friday At Hospital
Mrs. John Price died at the Deaconess hospital at Marshalltown early Friday morning following an operation for gallstones. Mrs. Price was taken to the hospital the Sunday previous and she submitted to the operation on Tuesday. The many friends of the family in Grundy county were deeply grieved when the death message reached them.
Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 Monday afternoon and at 2:30 at Alice church. The local pastor, Rev. J. L. Masemore, had charge of the services. He was assisted by Rev. Annette, pastor of the Baptist church in Grundy Center. Burial was in the Alice church cemetery.
Mabel Grace Shirk was born in Grundy county, Iowa, on October 27, 1882, and departed this life on December 2, 1933, at the age of 51 years, one month, and five days.
She grew to young womanhood in the community in which she was born and on January 15, 1902, was united in marriage to John S. Price. To this union six children were born, all of whom, with the husband, survive. The children are Mrs. Bruce Miller, LeRoy, Wilna, Harry, Lucile, and Edward, all of Grundy Center.
Besides the husband and children, Mrs. Price is survived by her father, I. N. Shirk, and a brother, H. M. Shirk, both of Grundy Center, and a sister, Mrs. R. E. Johnson of Woodbine, Iowa, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Price was a most faithful member of the Church of God at Alice for many years. She was a most loyal wife and devoted mother. Her cheerful, happy disposition endeared her to all with whom she came in contact.
The mother's love--there's none so pure,
So constant and so kind;
No human passion doth endure
Like this within the mind.
