Mrs. Geo. Boysen Dies at Hospital, Victim of Cancer

Mrs. George E. Boysen, Dike, died at the Sartori Memorial hospital at Cedar Falls at 7:15 Monday morning. She had been in failing health the past year. Two months ago she went to the hospital in Cedar Falls for an examination. An operation followed the examination which revealed cancer of the liver. Mrs. Boysen remained at the hospital following the operation until the end came Monday morning.

Funeral services were held at the home at Dike and later at the Lutheran church at Fredsville. She was buried in the Fredsville cemetery. Rev. Holgar Nielsen, the local pastor, officiated at the service.

Mrs. Boysen was 51 years old. Her maiden name was Sophie Marie Slifsgard. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Slifsgard, early residents of northeast Grundy. She was born in Fairfield township, Oct. 31, 1882. On March 2nd, 1904, she was married to George E. Boysen. Mr. Boysen was killed in an accident on the farm six years ago. The early life of Mr. and Mrs. Boysen was spent on a farm in Fairfield township. They moved to town when Mr. Boysen became associated with the Dike Savings Bank. Mrs. Boysen continued to reside in the family home following the sudden death of her husband. In late years her mother had been making her home with her.

Surviving relatives are a son, Glenn, who is teaching at Aurora, Iowa, and a daughter, Alpha, who is teaching in Wisconsin. Other surviving relatives are the mother, Mrs. T. Slifsgard; three brothers, Anton Slifsgard, Cedar Falls; Jeppe Slifsgard, Waterloo; Hans Slifsgard, Paradis, La.; the sister is Mrs. Dagmar Johnson from Dike.
