Mrs. Mat Hummel Dies After Short Illness

Mrs. Mat Hummel died at her home in Grundy Center at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon. She was afflicted with heart trouble since last winter when she was sick with the flu. Her condition did not become serious until last Friday. From that time until the end she became gradually weaker.

Mrs. Hummel was 75 years old. She was born in Germany and came to this country during the years of her girlhood. She was married to Mat Hummel in Cedar Rapids 42 years ago. Immediately following the marriage they moved to Grundy Center and she made her home here ever since. Mr. Hummel died Dec. 18th, 1931. Since that time Mrs. Hummel had the constant care and companionship of Miss Verda Lamb.

Surviving relatives are one sister, who lives at Chehalis, Washington; one aged brother resides in a Catholic home in Germany.

Funeral services will be held at the Catholic church in Grundy Center Thursday forenoon.
