Dike Child Dies From Infection

Dale Petersen, six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Petersen of west of Dike, died early Wednesday morning at Allen Memorial hospital from an infection which developed in a burn on his left leg.

The boy was burned when he crawled between the wall and the kitchen stove at his home while playing with other children. The stove was red hot and he suffered a painful burn. Infection of the exposed surface of the burn caused death.

The accident happened Wednesday of last week. He was taken to the hospital Tuesday.

Survivors are his parents, five brothers and two sisters: Roger, Howard, Leslie, Duane, Charles, Thelma and Lavon.
