Peter Bloxham Died At Hospital Following Operation
Peter Bloxham, who had been a continuous resident of Grundy county for 66 years, died at the Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo at 4:15 Monday morning following an operation on Friday for a ruptured hernia. The remains were brought to the home a mile southwest of Grundy Center Monday. Funeral services conducted by Rev. A. G. Annette were held at the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. Bloxham was a native of Iowa. He was born in Chickasaw county and came to Grundy county with his parents when he was 7 years old and he made his home here continuously. He was married 50 years ago on the 26th of last February and he and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at that time. Since their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Bloxham made their home on the same farm.
Seven children came to bless the home of this family. Five of these with the widow survive. The children are Lloyd from Arnold, Nebraska; Mrs. Dexter Rieman from Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Virgil Paige from Dike, and Edna and Lester who are at home.
Mr. Bloxham had been a member of the Grundy Odd Fellows Lodge for 40 years. Members of the Grundy and other Odd Fellow lodges attended the funeral in a body.
