Mrs. H. H. Kahl Dies Following Short Illness

Mrs. H. H. Kahl died at her home in Grundy Center at 4:10 Sunday afternoon following an illness of but two weeks from internal complications. She was taken sick quite suddenly and was taken to the hospital at Waterloo for an examination and treatment. Specialists at the hospital could give no help to relieve her condition and at her request she was brought back to her home last Thursday.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church yesterday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. J. B. Bird, pastor of the Methodist church, and by Rev. R. B. Fisher, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mrs. Kahl was in her 69th year. She was born in Stephenson county, Ill., Dec. 4th, 1863. Her maiden name was Sophie Hoefer. She was married to H. H. Kahl in Stephenson county on February 5th, 1885. She was the mother of five children. Only two of them are living. They are Lester and Mrs. A. C. Gravestein. There are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Surviving relatives are the husband, the two children and grandchildren and three brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Kahl came from a family of twelve children.

Mr. and Mrs. Kahl moved to Ogle county, Ill., in 1889, where they resided for 16 years. In 1904 they came to Grundy Center, where they have since made their home.

Quandt, Maywood, Ill.; Mrs. Rufus Kahl, Freeport, Ill.; Mrs. Mary Knipfel, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Kuhl, Webster City, Ia.; Miss Hazel Sprague, Mr. Ira Sprague, Freeport, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Phillips, Reddick, Ill.
