H. S. Beaman, Civil War Vet, Dies In California

H. S. Beaman, veteran of the Civil war and an early resident of Grundy county, died at Monrovia, California, on January 2nd. Funeral services were held from the home in California on January 5th. Burial was at Monrovia. Mr. Beaman was born in Rock Run, Stephens county, Ill., June 27th, 1845. He came to Grundy county shortly after the close of the Civil war and located in Clay township. The town of Beaman was named for his brother, H. H. Mr. Beaman was engaged in farming while he lived in Grundy county. He still owns two farms in Clay township. He was twice married. His first wife died some forty years ago. She is buried in the Beaman cemetery. He left Grundy county for California thirty-five years ago and has been living there ever since.

Surviving relatives are the second wife, a daughter from the first marriage, Mrs. Clara Nickerson from Chicago, two sons from the second marriage, Leon of Pasadena and Glenn from Monrovia.
