Mrs. Christ Boike Dies Following A Year's Illness

Mrs. Christ Boike died at her home in Grundy Center at four o'clock yesterday morning following an illness from heart failure for nearly a year. The end was hastened when Mrs. Boike suffered a paralytic stroke two weeks ago.

Funeral services will be at one o'clock at the home Saturday and at 1:30 at the German Presbyterian church with the local pastor, Rev. K. J. Stratemeier, in charge.

Mrs. Boike was a native of Germany. She was born at Bunde, Ostfriesland. She was 70 years old the 25th of last August. She came to this country with her folks in 1881 and the family located in Melrose township. The year after that she was married to Christ Boike. Mr. and Mrs. Boike resided on a Melrose township farm for several years after which they moved on their own farm three miles northwest of Grundy where they resided for sixteen years. They came to Grundy Center sixteen years ago and have made their home here continually.

Mrs. Boike is survived by her husband and five children. The children are Mrs. Elmer Hoffa, Herman, John and Mrs. Jake Hoffa from this county and Mrs. Harvey Hutsel from Eldora. The oldest son died in infancy. There is one brother, Peter Muhring from Grundy Center. Mrs. Henry Klunder, a sister, recently left here for California. The other sister, Mrs. Simon Hovinga, lives at Webb, Iowa, and she will be here for the funeral.
