3-Months' Old Baby Smothered In Bed

Unusual Death of Little Son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Flessner

The three months' old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Flessner of Pleasant Valley township was found dead in his bed Friday forenoon. A half hour after the mother had put the baby in his bed for his forenoon nap, the mother noticed that he had turned over and was lying with his nose in the bed covers. It was when she turned him over that the mother discovered with horror that the child was not breathing. She summoned her husband who was outside, but nothing that either father or mother could do could bring back the spark of life which had passed out such a short time before. It is believed that the child smothered when he turned over on his face. He was the only child in the family.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Heinrich church in Shiloh township with the local pastor and Rev. Pannkuk from Aplington officiating.
