Death Claimed Charlotte Ash At Volga City, Iowa

Word was received by relatives here Monday evening of the death of Charlotte Tompkins, who was formerly Charlotte Ash, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ash of this place, and who was adopted nine years ago from the home in Davenport by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tompkins of Volga City, Iowa.

She underwent a tonsil operation on Saturday morning and died Sunday evening. The funeral was held from the Methodist church in Volga City with the local pastor of that place officiating. Charlotte was born on October 23, 1919, and was 11 years and 8 months old at the time of her death. She had made many friends and the funeral was very largely attended, as there were over 400 in attendance.

Those from here who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Ash Sr., Mr. and Mrs. John Ash, Jr., and Sam Ash.
