Obituary of Mrs. A. C. Brockway

Harriet Perry Kinney was born in Wyantskill, N.Y., September 19th, 1844, and departed this life Feb. 18th, 1914, making her age 69 years and five months lacking one day.

She was married to Albert C. Brockway, at South Berlin, N.Y., on Sept. 19th, 1866. This newly married couple came to Iowa and settled on the farm where they always lived, mingling with other pioneer citizens in breaking the virgin soil and making a home for the rearing of sturdy sons and daughters.

Seven children were born to them, the eldest dying in infancy, and the youngest, Albert H., dying in Olds., Canada, Feb. 5th, 1908.

The relatives who survive are: the husband, Albert C. Brockway, and five children, Mrs. Orlando Kulp, of Grundy Center, Willard of Fifteen Mile Grove, Mrs. Fred James of Madison, Wis., Ruth and Charles on the home farm. There are also two sisters, Mrs. C. W. Wells of Long Grove, Iowa, and Miss Georgiana Kinney, of Wyantskill, N.Y., and a brother, Rev. Charles W. Kinney, of Schuylerville, New York.

Mrs. Brockway was one of the first members of the Baptist church of Grundy Center, and was always true to her profession; as well as ever faithful in her domestic duties setting an example of constancy and loyalty to christian principle.

Another pioneer has gone. It was her pleasure to watch the wild flowers grow and see the land turn into rich valuable farms.

--The Grundy Democrat (Grundy Center, Iowa), 26 February 1914, pg 8
