Ruth Sonksen, 92, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Saturday, September 8, 2007, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital-Long Term Care Unit, in Grundy Center.

Ruth was born April 13, 1915, in rural Butler County, Iowa, the daughter of Steffen and Minnie (Mennen) Johnson. She attended country school. On May 10, 1941 she was united in marriage to Erich H. Sonksen in Grundy Center, Iowa. Ruth took care of many elderly people in their homes. Ruth was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, Iowa.

She is survived by her step son: Leon and his wife Beverly Sonksen of Pueblo, Colorado and a step-daughter: Lucille and her husband Joseph Kobylarick of Scottsdale, Arizona; 5 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren and 6 step great-great-grandchildren; a brother: Claus and his wife Janet Johnson of Wyhoff, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Erich on September 26, 1974, 2 step grandchildren: Ronald Beightol and Mark Sonksen; 3 brothers: George, Echo, and Martin Johnson; 4 sisters: Fannie Siems, Nellie Uhlenhopp, Ella Whited and Anna Stickford.
