Edna L. Weiss, 90, of Osage, Iowa, formerly of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 12, 2007, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastor Bruce Boyce and Pastor Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck; The Faith Lutheran Home, Inc. of Osage, Iowa; Trinity Lutheran Church of Osage; Hospice of North Iowa; the Mitchell County Regional Health Center of Osage; or to the charity of the donor's choice. French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck is serving the family of Edna L. Weiss.

Edna Louise (Schneider) Weiss was born April 30, 1916, in Morrison, Iowa, the daughter of Carl H. and Mary (Witt) Schneider. Edna was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, and grew up in the Morrison and Reinbeck areas. She was confirmed at St. John?s Lutheran Church in 1930. Edna graduated with the Reinbeck High School Class of 1934. On April 27, 1947, Edna was united in marriage to Lester G. Weiss. Edna was a homemaker. Edna's husband Lester died on May 25, 1976, and she continued to make Reinbeck her home until January 2004, when she became a resident of the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Edna was a lifelong member of St. John' Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. She loved to do crossword puzzles.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons-Stephen Weiss and his wife Cathy of Davenport, Iowa; Robert Weiss and his wife Tina of Crestview, Florida; two daughters Jean Weiss of Watford City, North Dakota; Ruth Ann Schmidt and her husband Louis of Osage, Iowa; one sister-in-law Audrey Schneider of Reinbeck, Iowa; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other distant relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lester; two brothers Walter and Carl Schneider; three sisters Elizabeth Bern; Della Schneider; and Ruth Schneider in infancy; one sister-in-law Arlie Schneider; and one brother-in-law Carl Bern.
