Audrey Lillian Springer, 90, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Sunday, April 8, 2007, at the Grundy Center Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center, Iowa. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa, with Pastor Matt Miller officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 pm until service time, at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa. A memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Audrey was born September 27, 1916, in Garrison, Iowa, the daughter of Fay and Rosella (Henkle) Connerley. She attended Traer High School. On October 3, 1936 she was united in marriage to Harlen Edward Springer in Eldora, Iowa. Audrey was raised during the depression and raised her children alone for two and a half years while Harlen was serving his country in the South Pacific. Audrey worked at the Hamburger Inn in Grundy Center for many years. She enjoyed canning produce from the large garden she had when her family was young. She sewed for her family and herself. She loved working in her flower garden at her home on J Avenue. She enjoyed wintering in Arizona after Harlen retired. She was a 68 year member of the Grundy Center United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter: Pat and her husband Roger Kruse of Homer, Nebraska; son: Bill and his wife Rebecca Springer of Marion, Iowa; three grandchildren JoEllen and her husband Doug Wical of Grundy Center, Iowa and Nicholas and Quince Springer of Marion, Iowa; 4 great grandchildren: Audra and her husband Justin Rockwell of Winterset, Iowa; Morgan Wical of Grundy Center; Tasha and Dustin Kruse of Hinton, Iowa; 2 great great grandchildren: Triston Mitchel Rockwell and Ava Jo Rockwell. A sister: Phyllis Connerley of Grundy Center, and a long time friend Harley Bence of Marshalltown, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Harlen; a grandson: Mitchel Kruse; a sister: Rachel Ohrt; and a brother: DeLeroy Connerley.
