Gary DeVries, 44, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Memorials may be directed to the Family.

Gary DeVries was born on September 6, 1962 in Grundy Center, IA, son of Jerry and Elizabeth (Sally Miller) DeVries. He was raised and graduated from high school in Reinbeck, IA. Shortly after high school Gary went to work for Professional Office Services as printing press operator. Gary was avid outdoorsmen he loved to hunt, fish, golf and play softball. He enjoyed bowling in leagues with his friends. In 1980 Gary earned the Eagle Scout Honor, with his love for camping and scouting he shared and taught this to his sons. On May 28, 2005 Gary married Barbara Cooper at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Gary loved to follow dirt track racing, Nascar racing, the Waterloo Black Hawks, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. Most of all Gary loved spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Barb DeVries of Grundy Center; two sons, Kyle and Kraig of Grundy Center; father, Jerry (Carolyn) DeVries of Reinbeck; three brothers, Gaylen (Karen) Devries of Reinbeck, Ricky (Wendy) DeVries of Clinton, IA, Gregory DeVries of Grundy Center, IA, three stepsons, Nick Cooper, Lucas Cooper, of Grundy Center, Beau Cooper of Chicago, IL, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother.
