George W. Buseman, 87, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died of natural causes, October 10, 2005 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, Iowa, with Pastors Kent Leydens and Theodore Ertle officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, with full military rights provided by the American Legion Post #349 and AMVETS #17. Visitation will be held Friday, October 14, 2005 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, with family present to greet friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to the family.

George was born February 20, 1918, in Elkton, Minnesota, son of Jacob and Martha (Klosterboer) Buseman. He was raised and educated in Grundy County, Iowa where he graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1937. George served as a clerk typist in the U.S. Army during World War II. On November 14, 1943 George was united in marriage to Berniece Reece in Douglas Wyoming. The couple moved to Grundy Center in 1950 where they made their home. George worked for Moorman's Feed Co. for thirty-five years. He also owned and operated the Buseman Dx Filling Station in Grundy Center for seventeen years, and was a U.S.D.A. Crop Adjuster Supervisor for six years. George was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. He was a District Commander for the American Legion Post #349 and AMVETS #17 and also served as Chaplain, Treasurer, and Historian. George was also a member of Lions, Kiwanis, the 40/8 Club, the Barber Shoppers, and was a Boy Scout Master and Red Cross Chairman.

He is survived by his wife Berniece of Grundy Center, Iowa; three children, Greg and his wife Mary Buseman of Pleasanton, California; Patricia Burt of Clinton Township, Michigan; and Donna and her husband Ray Bailey of Divernon, Illinois; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Olga Jordan, Louise Hunt, and Annette Steck; and two brothers, Thomas Buseman and Onno Buseman.
