Death Takes Toll Of Longtime Grundy Resident
W. A. Neessen Succumbs To Long Siege Of Typhoid Fever
Lived On Same Farm His Entire Lifetime
Walter A. Neessen died at his home in Colfax township last Friday following an illness of six weeks from typhoid fever. Prior to showing symptoms of typhoid he passed through a short siege of the flu. His case was considered serious for a number of weeks before the end came.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. E. Drake, were held at the home Monday afternoon and later at the Presbyterian church in Colfax township. There was a very large attendance at the church service. Burial was made in the Drake church cemetery.
Mr. Neessen was born in Colfax township and resided on one farm during his entire lifetime. The farm was purchased by his father, Anton Neessen, in an early day and later was acquired by the son.
He was 49 years old on the 9th of last April. He was married to Miss Tischa Heikens Mar. 9, 1904. There are 4 children, three sons and one daughter, who with the wife survive. Mr. Neessen was the only son in the family from which he came. There were four daughters, three of whom are living. They are Mrs. Fred Terfehn, Mrs. Bus Venenga, and Mrs. George Loots, all of this county. Mr. Neessen's father died about ten years ago. His mother passed away in 1924.
