Mrs. Alt Eerdmoed Dead

Mrs. Gepke Riekena Eerdmoed, wife of Alt Eerdmoed, after an illness of long duration, was called very unexpectedly early Saturday morning. She was born the 29th of March, 1881, in Shiloh township, and reached the age of 48 years, 4 months and 8 days.

She was joined in holy wedlock the 28th of February, 1907, to Alt Eerdmoed. To this union were born four children, Grace, John, Albert and Ben.

In the year 1919, the 5th of October, she with her husband joined the Wellsburg Christian Reformed church and she was also baptized.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, the four children, four sisters and three brothers. The funeral took place the 9th. At this occasion Rev. H. C. Bode spoke on Ps. 90:12, "So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom," which was rendered in the German language, and on Eccles. 7:1, "Better is the day of death than the day of one's birth."

Mrs. Eerdmoed was a devoted wife and mother and her death causes sorrow in many a heart. May the Lord of all grace comfort the bereaved with His grace.

Mrs. Eerdmoed's death was caused by heart trouble, with which she had been afflicted for several months.

Of the surviving children, one is a son and three are daughters. The sisters are Mrs. Ebbo Nederhoff, Mrs. Albert Lutterman, Mrs. John Mennenga and Mrs. George Geerdes, all of whom reside in this community. The three brothers are Peter Riekena of Wellsburg, Joe and Gratus Riekena of Woden, Iowa.
