Death Occurs This Morning at His Home Here

The not unexpected death of Heye W. Reis occurred this (Thursday) morning at 8 o'clock at his home in this city.

Mr. Reis had been in poor health for two years or more, suffering from a lingering illness. Had he lived until next July he would have been 77 years of age.

His wife passed away three years ago this month, and there is left their only child, Johanna, who has kept house for her father since the death of the wife and mother.

No funeral arrangements had been made as this paper goes to press.

Funeral services will be the New Presbyterian church next Monday afternoon.

Harm Wumkes Ries

Was born July 16th, 1852, at Jemgum, Eastfriesland, Germany. In the year 1868 he accompanied his parents to this country, where they settled in Forreston, Ill. Seven years later, in 1875, he moved on a farm in Grundy county, which he left to come to Grundy Center twenty-two years ago, residing in this town ever since.

In 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Helmina Andreesen. To this union was born one daughter, Johanna. Three years ago he was required to lay away his beloved wife, the sorrow of which deeply affected him. After a lingering illness of some years which increased in the last months so as to confine him entirely to his room, he quietly fell asleep on Thursday, May 9, 1929, attaining unto the age of 75 years, 9 months and 23 days. With him a devoted husband, a loving father, a respected friend and neighbor has passed out of our circle.

He leaves to mourn his only daughter, Johanna, one sister, Mrs. Katie Meier, many friends and neighbors.

The funeral was held Monday, May 13, with services at the New Presbyterian church in which the ministers W. Bode, J. E. Drake and K. J. Stratemeier took part. Interment was made at the Grundy Center city cemetery.
