Joseph Specht Dead
Joseph A. Specht, a central Iowa resident for 64 years, died at 11:30 Monday night at his home southwest of Conrad after an illness of three weeks. Death was caused by cardiac dropsy.
Joseph A. Specht was born in Somerset county, Pa., Jan. 31st, 1858, and was brought to the Conrad community by his parents when 7 years old. He married Miss Eliza A. Coulter Dec. 28th, 1881.
He is survived by Mrs. Specht and nine of his twelve children. The children are George F. of Oskaloosa; Alva E., Marshalltown; Joseph W., Louis J., Arnold E., Beulah and Carrie, all at home, and Mrs. Claude Effen and Mrs. Haswell Rucker, of Cresco. He is also survived by two brothers, William S., St. Louis, Mo., and George W., of Marshalltown.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Conrad cemetery.
