Obituary of Mrs. D. K. Niehaus

Mrs. D. K. Niehaus, nee Anna Wolthoff, was born April 11, 1884, at Bunde, Eastfriesland, Germany. With her parents she came to America in 1889, and grew up to young girlhood in Grundy county. January 18, 1905, she was united in the solemn rite of matrimony to Mr. Dick Niehaus and these 23 years she was his faithful and loving wife. Six children were born to this union, of which three died in infancy and three, Casper, Margaret and Marian, survive.

Feb. 19, 1922, Mrs. Dick Niehaus joined the First German Presbyterian church on confession of faith. She was a member also of the Ladies' Aid Society of that church.

Several months ago she was required to undergo an operation from which she seemingly recovered. A greater ailment befell her shortly after and though nothing was being left undone either in the way of physician's care or the ministry of the family circle, her body wasted away and she began to fail rapidly. Bearing her sufferings with patience and in the strength of the Lord, she fell quietly asleep in Him on Saturday morning, Dec. first, 1928, at the age of 44 years, 7 months and 19 days. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Dick Niehaus, the three children, Casper, Margaret, and Marian, her aged mother, Mrs. O. Wolthoff; four sisters, Mrs. Roy Schafstall, Mrs. A. Kruger, Mrs. Ray Sargent, Mrs. Leo Olson, three brothers, Peter, William and Fred Wolthoff, many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December fourth at the First German Presbyterian church, at which occasion the ministers Rev. J. E. Drake, D. D. and Rev. K. J. Stratemeier, Th. D., preached the Word. Interment was made in the Grundy Center cemetery.
