Passing Of Jesse F. Klontz
Remains Brought Here From Fitzsimmons Hospital, Denver
The body of Jesse F. Klontz arrived here Monday from Fitzsimmons Hospital, Denver, Col., where he passed away Friday, Sept. 7th, 1928, after a lingering illness with tuberculosis contracted while a United States soldier in the Philippine Islands.
Jesse F. Klontz was born Nov. 9, 1889, at Grundy Center, Iowa. He departed this life Sept. 7, 1928, at the Fitzsimmons Hospital, Denver, Colo., at the age of 38 years, 9 months and 28 days. He was the second son of Peter and Mathilda Klontz. In August, 1908, he enlisted in the regular United States army, serving until July, 1914, a period of six years, of which four years were spent in the Philippine Islands; the other two years were spent in the States. During the last seven years of his life he was cared for by the United States government in various sanitariums.
He leaves a father, one sister and three brothers to mourn his loss. His mother preceded him to the spirit world. The mother having been of the Presbyterian faith, Jesse was christened when a child.
The funeral was from the house in Grundy Center, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m., Rev. L. P. Cassel, of the Baptist church, conducting the service.
The American Legion acted as pallbearers, with their usual committal service at the grave.
